Telephone Hotline

The Hope Center operates a telephone hotline 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.

While the hotline can provide emergency support such as access to shelter, IF YOU ARE IN NEED OF IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE: PLEASE DIAL 911.

Hotline: (570) 622-6220   |   Toll-Free: (800) 282-0634

(For those who may not be ready to disclose abuse, please know the hotline is confidential and calls can be made anonymously.)

Wondering what to expect when you contact us?

When beginning a hotline conversation…staff are instructed to immediately assess if the caller is in present danger. This is because your safety is our priority. They will likely ask: “Are you safe to talk?” You may not be if, for example, your abuser is nearby, you have just been abused, or you could be seriously injured. You may also be at a high risk for danger if your abuser has threatened to harm or kill you, has strangled you, or assaulted you with a weapon in the past. In these cases, hotline staff may recommend you take action such as contacting the police or emergency services.

Staff and volunteers who answer the hotline are ready to provide:

  • Information about Domestic Violence;
  • Phone Counseling and Crisis Intervention;
  • Risk Assessment and Safety Planning;
  • Referral to Resources, Services, Other Organizations; and
  • Support for Loved Ones and Concerned Community Members.

Text Hotline

When experiencing abuse, it may…

  • be dangerous to reach out via telephone;
  • be difficult to speak about and discuss out loud;
  • be uncomfortable to have children overhear sensitive information.

If you related to any of these statements, our free and confidential TEXT HOTLINE may be for you.

By texting HOPELINE to 20121, you get access to…

  • support (trained advocates ready to lend a listening ear);
  • knowledge (information and referral to resources and services);
  • understanding (rights and options available to you).

(HOWEVER, FOR IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS, PLEASE DIAL 911.)

Reaching out takes tremendous courage.

We are here for you when you are ready: Monday-Friday 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

(Hours of operation will gradually expand over time.)

While our text hotline is geared toward supporting victims, you may also contact it as a concerned family member, friend, neighbor, acquaintance, and/or citizen. Whether they are your relative, the person next to you at work, or the waitress who pours your morning coffee, our advocates can answer questions you may have.
